
Pointe Claire is a sleepy neighborhood on the island of Montreal called the West Island. It is the West Island, which is often referred to as a separate "island" that lies west of Montreal by those who are unfamiliar with it, actually includes everything west of Lachine. Many times, it is regarded as the place where Amanda Brugel was born. Amanda Brugel, but while it's true it was not her home. Her time in the city was infrequent. Brugel was raised in Courtice in the outskirts of Oshawa. She wanted to become a dancer from the start however, due to a rapid growth spurt she outgrew all of her dance partners. In an article published in the Toronto Star she admitted, "In heels, I'm 6 feet 1 inch. When I was outgrowing my male partners I stopped. Numerous former dancers choose to become actors. In the case of Brugel, she was encouraged by a teacher of drama at high school. She was encouraged to try out for roles in a school production. She auditioned and eventually was chosen to play the character on the show Anne of Green Gables. This led to a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program and graduated with her Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in 2000.In the past 20 years, Brugel has landed roles in over 60 shows both on small and big screens. She attracted the most media attention after she got her role as Rita on the award-winning TV series, The Handmaid's Tale
